Here is one of newer pieces of artwork. Started the new year off painting something a little different from what I normally have painted in the past. Recently, I just completed a commission of a waterfall in Morocco, for a client through the Dutch Art Gallery. The commission painting inspired me to paint more waterfall scenes. I included a small deer under the tree on the left side of the painting. It is very common for deer to be out and about early in the morning or late in the evening, as this painting suggests.

Here is the 2nd version of Beyond The Gate. The first version was an 8" x 10". About a month ago, I decided to repaint it in a larger format. The larger painting allowed me to refine the lattice and detailing in and around the gate, but I maintain the values and colors that were used in the original. As a subtle gesture,

"Whispering River" is a depiction of The Animas River between Durango and Silverton, Colorado. My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a summer vacation to Colorado in July! We had a great time and enjoyed the incredible views of Mountains, Trees, and Rivers. Quite a different painting from the normal Texas Genre. This is the first painting of a series that I am currently working on. More to come in the near future.

Here is my latest oil painting that I have been working on for several
weeks now. This is a piece that I was commissioned to do for a client
through The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas. The client loved the
colors in one of my existing pieces at the gallery and wanted me to
paint a larger painting. We both met and talked and decided to paint a
triptych on gallery wrap panels. Before finalizing the design, I did a
couple of sketches and few color studies (One in Spring Colors and the
other in Fall). The client liked the Spring Colors, so this is what we
ended up painting! Overall, the painting was fun and it was great
experience getting to do a commission. Enjoy!

This ACEO was created from some photographs that I took up in the Eureka Springs, Arkansas, about five years ago. My wife and I were newlyweds and we were on our honeymoon. This was indeed a special trip. We found this bird bath at The Inn of Rose Hall, which is where we stayed. It was a romantic and charming bed and breakfast. The place was beautiful with lots of greenery and beautiful flowers in bloom. Not only that, all the historical buildings in the downtown area reminded us of the bygone era when things were not as technologically advanced.

I have found that the ACEO's to great springboard to work out the composition, values, and colors before moving on to the final painting. This piece along with several other pieces will be featured at "The Texas Wild Bunch Show" this weekend in Kerrville, Texas. The show is Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th. Here is one of latest ACEO Originals that I created between Christmas and New Years Holiday. These have been popular and I have sold ten of these throughout the holiday season! Due to popularity, I have decided to continue painting in this format, in addition to larger works that I will create throughout the coming year. These have been quite fun and it has been my experience that the miniature painting format is a good exercise to work out the values, colors, light source, and composition before moving on to a larger painting.

To see more ACEO's and other works, please visit my website at www.kwoodfineart.com.
I have also posted this blog at www.artistsoftexas.blogspot.com.

If your interested in purchasing one of my ACEO's, or would like something commissioned, please contact me by email at kwoodtexasart@yahoo.com.

Thanks for stopping in and have a wonderful day! Kyle Woodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15589095965485124174noreply@blogger.com0
