"Whispering River" by Kyle Wood

"Whispering River"
24" x 18" Oil on Canvas by Kyle Wood

"Whispering River" is a depiction of The Animas River between Durango and Silverton, Colorado.  My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a summer vacation to Colorado in July!  We had a great time and enjoyed the incredible views of Mountains, Trees, and Rivers.  Quite a different painting from the normal Texas Genre.  This is the first painting of a series that I am currently working on.  More to come in the near future.

"Spring Radiance" by Kyle Wood

"Spring Radiance" - Oil - Triptych
40" x  52" Overall Dimensions
Commissioned Painting
Here is my latest oil painting that I have been working on for several weeks now.  This is a piece that I was commissioned to do for a client through The Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  The client loved the colors in one of my existing pieces at the gallery and wanted me to paint a larger painting. We both met and talked and decided to paint a triptych on gallery wrap panels.  Before finalizing the design, I did a couple of sketches and few color studies (One in Spring Colors and the other in Fall).  The client liked the Spring Colors, so this is what we ended up painting!  Overall, the painting was fun and it was great experience getting to do a commission.  Enjoy!

"Bird Bath" by Kyle Wood

"Bird Bath" - ACEO Original Oil
2.5" x 3.5" by Kyle Wood

This ACEO was created from some photographs that I took up in the Eureka Springs, Arkansas, about five years ago.  My wife and I were newlyweds and we were on our honeymoon.  This was indeed a special trip.  We found this bird bath at The Inn of Rose Hall, which is where we stayed.  It was a romantic and charming bed and breakfast.  The place was beautiful with lots of greenery and beautiful flowers in bloom.  Not only that, all the historical buildings in the downtown area reminded us of the bygone era when things were not as technologically advanced.

This ACEO is available for $35.00, which includes shipping and handling.  If interested in purchasing, please contact me via email at kwoodtexasart@yahoo.com.

"The DeGolyer" - 14" x 11" Oil on Canvas by Kyle Wood

Here is painting that I did awhile back! It is rendition of the doorway of "The DeGolyer Home" at The Dallas Arboretum. This is a beautiful home and what a beautiful place to visit during Spring when all the tulips, azaleas, other types of flowering plants are in bloom. The day I was there, it was a picture perfect day and I managed to capture good lighting and shadows on the building. Enjoy!

"Beyond The Gate" - 8" x 10" Oil Painting by Kyle Wood

About a week and half ago, I participated in paint-out event in my hometown of Terrell. The event was hosted by NETFAA (Northeast Texas Fine Art Alliance). There were about twenty artists who came in participated the event. We had the opportunity to go around town to select number of historical homes and paint out in the front & back yards. The weather was very delightful during the week long event! At the end of the week, all artists who participated turned in their finished pieces to be judge. Bruce Peil was our judge and lo and beyond I came away with a First Place Winning for my oil painting, titled "Beyond The Gate."

"Hill Country Treasures" - 11" x 14" Oil on Canvas by Kyle Wood

"Hill Country Treasures" is a final studio painting that I created from an ACEO (2.5" X 3.5") Thumbnail. I have found that the ACEO's to great springboard to work out the composition, values, and colors before moving on to the final painting. This piece along with several other pieces will be featured at "The Texas Wild Bunch Show" this weekend in Kerrville, Texas. The show is Saturday, March 17th and Sunday, March 18th. The Hill Country Region of Texas is one of my favorite destinations spots and is the inspiration for many of my paintings. "Spring Passage" is about the renewal of God's Creations on Earth. It was God who created Man and Women, the Heavens, and all the beautiful Flowers and Trees that He provided us and for that I am Thankful.

"Bluebonnet Medley" by Kyle Wood

"Bluebonnet Medley" - ACEO Original Oil

2.5" x 3.5" by Kyle Wood

Here is my latest ACEO Original depiction of The Texas Hill Country filled with the aroma of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes. I have found the ACEO to be a great method for getting a quick thumbnail composition and I have something to look at in terms of value and color. Currently, I am taking the ACEO's that I have completed and working them into slightly larger pieces (up to 11" x 14") that are more refined. More work and postings to come!

Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this piece or any other work of mine. My email address is kwoodtexasart@yahoo.com. This piece, along with many other pieces can be viewed at www.kwoodfineart.com.

"Texas Traditions" by Kyle Wood

"Texas Traditions" ACEO Original Oil

2.5" x 3.5" by Kyle Wood

Texas is a mighty big state and there are many traditions and icons here. Two of them are "Longhorns" and the annual spring arrival of our state flower, "The Bluebonnet." This ACEO Original was created from some photographs that I took in the Ennis Area last spring. It is great place to capture Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrushes, which many of them grow along fences. Occasionally, you can see a longhorn or two grazing in the pastures.

"Hill Country Treasures" by Kyle Wood

"Hill Country Treasures" - ACEO Original Oil

2.5" x 3.5" by Kyle Wood

Hill Country Treasures is indeed a facet of The Lone Star State, that we call "Texas." During the spring months, especially in the years where it has been wet, the landscape gets transformed from the dormancy of winter into an explosion of color. Fields that were once bare, become filled with the sweet aroma of Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes. To make it more exciting, add old dirt road and a rusty barn in the mix and begins to tell a story. Enjoy!

"Hill Country Passage" by Kyle Wood

"Hill Country Passage" - 2.5" x 3.5"

ACEO Original Oil by Kyle Wood

Happy New Year to all my artists friends and everyone else out there. Here is one of latest ACEO Originals that I created between Christmas and New Years Holiday. These have been popular and I have sold ten of these throughout the holiday season! Due to popularity, I have decided to continue painting in this format, in addition to larger works that I will create throughout the coming year. These have been quite fun and it has been my experience that the miniature painting format is a good exercise to work out the values, colors, light source, and composition before moving on to a larger painting.
